The Top 5 Favourite Companies of All Time

We come across countless products and services every day. Liking the products of our favourite companies is one thing, but understanding the companies behind them like how they operate, what they create, and how they have evolved over the years is another thing.

Here are some of my all-time favourite companies from different domains and the reasons why they hold a special place in my world.

1. Walt Disney

Entertainment

Who doesn't know about Disney, one of the largest companies in the entertainment domain? I remember the first time I saw the animated movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and since then I have had a special place in my heart for Disney. I am a great admirer of Walt Disney World because it is my source of magic and stories. And over the years, from animation to other non-animated films, Disney has created so much and given the world a lot.

Disney was founded by Walt Disney and his brother Roy O. Disney in 1923 and currently it has a market cap of $182.32 billion. Besides creating films, the company has other major business segments that include music labels, publishing, streaming services, live theatrical shows, theme parks and resorts, digital games, and merchandise.

The Walt Disney Company has a massive history of major corporate acquisitions that transformed it into a global media empire. Some of the major companies it acquired are Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and 21st Century Fox.

One of the best things about Disney is that it keeps adapting to the latest technologies in its storytelling while keeping its magic alive. Which is why I love it and always will, no matter how old I become.

2. Google

Technology

Who quenches your curious brain when it comes to answering any question? Obviously, we all switch to Google. Aren't we? A perfect combo of information, technology, and trust. It is a hub of data and has been known for its relevancy for years.

Alphabet (the parent company of Google) is currently ranks third globally, with a market cap of about $4.10 trillion. Google's major revenue sources include online advertising and its cloud business, while the company is also actively expanding its AI products and services.

Google also bought Android in 2005 for about $50 million and kept the team on board to continue developing the OS. Today, it maintains the AOSP (Android Open Source Project), making the core platform source code freely available to hardware manufacturers, developers, and alternative mobile projects worldwide.

I mean, what doesn't Google provide us? Communication through Gmail, information and browsing through Chrome, storage through Drive, music through YouTube Music, and entertainment through YouTube. Which is the only social app I like spending time on.

3. Apple

Technology

I can never get tired of admiring Apple and Steve Jobs. Apple is known for its iconic brand value, sleek design aesthetics, integrated hardware/software ecosystem, and quality of course, which makes it one of the biggest technology companies in the world.

Apple Inc. was founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in a California garage with a vision to build user-friendly personal computers. As business was never an easy game, in 1985 due to internal clashes with CEO John Sculley, Steve left Apple. Without Jobs, Apple lost market share to Microsoft Windows and struggled through difficult years. But then Jobs returned in 1997, 12 years later and played a major role in transforming the company again. This showed that not everyone can be a leader. Well, after him Tim Cook handled it so well, and currently Apple seems to be in good hands.

Apple is the second richest company in the world (NVIDIA is on the top). Apple makes most of its money from sales of the iPhone, wearables including AirPods and the Apple Watch, Mac, iPad, and other services like iCloud, Apple Music, and more. Apple spends a significant portion of its budget on digital advertising and is currently busy promoting its iPhone 18 and Pro.

4. Adobe

Creativity

When the word creativity shows up, who doesn't know about Adobe? It is because of Adobe that today we can create illustrations, edit pictures, make motion graphics, and much more.

Adobe was founded in 1982 and initially focused on PostScript (a page description language for printing). Adobe Illustrator was the first creative software launched by Adobe, followed by Photoshop version 1.0 in 1990, turning it into an industry standard. Till date, these two remain the most-used tools from Adobe, alongside many others. Before Adobe, some of the leading creative software that came along were Sketchpad, MacPaint, and FullPaint.

Well, due to the current AI era, Adobe has been adapting to the changing technology and creative landscape. Also recently it released its Premiere Pro mobile app, which is of great use to editors.

5. Dior

Lifestyle

I may have a lot of dreams, but one of them is to buy my own house someday and design it with stuff the way I want. I am literally a lover of aesthetics. There might be a lot of luxury brands like LV, Chanel, Gucci, Hermès, and bla bla. But my favourite is Christian Dior.

Dior is known for its luxury goods and was founded by designer Christian Dior in Paris, France. The company's core business segments are clothing, leather goods, cosmetics, jewellery, and watches. Christian Dior SE operates as the core holding company that controls LVMH, while LVMH simultaneously owns the operational fashion and beauty brands of Dior. Whenever I check their products on social media, I'm always in awe of the way they intertwine beauty with aesthetics.

Well, I am not a very makeup person, but I have always had three things in my bag: perfume, kajal, and my lip gloss. And someday, I am definitely going to the official stores of Dior in Paris and do some crazy shopping. Lol, I am a girl after all.

PS: With so many AI tools entering the market, Midjourney is actively promoting its services. It stopped its free trial program in March 2023 due to extraordinary demand and trial abuse, particularly because of the massive number of users creating disposable “throwaway” accounts to continuously generate free images. Btw, I am loving their current active hyped advertisement.

Update: Currently minimizing things, organizing life, and feeding the brain with great stuff.
